My Juki sewing machine is back and is working fine. I love that machine so much! Solid metal, large throat, big table, dummyproof. Next, the PFAFF has to go in for service...oy. That will be a big wait and a big bill. It needs a new bobbin case for sure as the original one has been dinged up from so many needle jams because the machine is so quirky. Toying with the idea of selling it and trying a different upscale model, but don’t want to throw good money after bad and face the same challenges with whatever machine I go to. I could do so much more if I had a machine that didn’t piss me off every time I sat down to sew on it, though! Imagine...just sitting down to actually use a machine and not suffer trying to make it work. Maybe it Is just me, and I don’t know what I am doing...but I don’t think so. I like the regular stitch of the CV, but a $5800 machine should do more than that without aggravation. I was sewing a little utilitarian quilt on the Juki for a friend’s baby last night and it was so nice. Just to sit and sew. Ahhhhh…. I’ve missed that part with all the hand work I’ve been doing lately. Just have to put it together and get it quilted or tied. Woot! That was an easy one,
Someday I want to make a little quilt to bring with me when I get my iv meds. The medication/fluids being on a chill to the bone and while they office has nice white sheets, it might be nice to have a little binky that is a bit warmer for that purpose. I could use up all my commercial fabrics, too. The “someday” list is way too long…
For an art link today, here is a link to the simple dolls of artist Manon Gignoux. Much of her textile work is highly abstract and symbolic, but I do really like her dolls. Sad little things, discarded looking spirits. NIce distillation of the complex human form. Really different. Cheers!
